Slightly overwhelmed...

Have I mentioned that life is kicking my ass right now? The sickness that I have is an obvious reason, but why is it that I dread this upcoming week? Probably because I have to spend 4 nights of it at a restaurant that runs horribly, but I stay because it makes me stable financially. I wish I could go to school without having to worry about work, but such is life. Sadly it's not even the school work that's overwhelming! I'm loving it. Also, the numbers on the scale have gone up and I'm trying to figure out how a trip to the gym will fit in my ridiculous schedule.

Tomorrow I'm on campus from 10:00a until 7:00p with a couple of hours in between. The workout could potentially happen between one of my classes, which is probably how that's going to work, but by the time I get home, I'm exhausted. Last Monday I was asleep by 10:30, which is early for me. It's sad that 10:20 is early. On a normal night, when I have to work until 12:30, I'm not in bed until 2:30 sometimes 3:00.

It's those extra pounds that are my motivation to get to the gym, but I keep asking myself, "What's it gonna take?" I'm only blaming myself, but I constantly have excuses. The main one being my exhaustion. I know, getting to the gym will energize me and will be fulfilling in so many ways, but again, it's getting there.

Feeling better sinus infection-wise, but definitely not 100%. I read something today that said when you have a sinus infection, sometimes it helps to work out--it clears your head. I don't work tomorrow night, so that's relieving, but for some reason it's knowing at the end of the week, there isn't relaxation like everyone else gets on the weekend. It's only chaos and stress because hostesses get shat on. Funny how they control the business out front and are the face of the restaurant, but they get some much crap from servers. Still two more training sessions to go till I can be a server.

So, in closing my late night pity party, wish me luck this week.

Slacker McSlacker

So, I absolutely love my classes this semester but between them and work plus my student worker job, they completely consume my life. I have noticed a definite lack in time to sit and watch a million Law and Order episodes. Most of my classes are upper level classes which is the challenge I've been looking for. Last semester I took a lot of freshman levels that I needed to get out of the way and I was miserable. My mind was not challenged--one of the many reasons I'm ready for grad-school. However, out of all of my semesters in school, this is the most organized. I've already put all of my assignments and readings on a huge wall calendar and highlighted the days that something is due. I'm pretty proud of myself.

So that part of my life is organized, but now the cleanliness of my house is going down the shitter. The BF is probably not happy, but he graduated last semester, so he can't say anything.

I'm 2 training days away from officially becoming a server even though my manager was desperate last week and let me serve a little. So look forward to the stories to come!!

Forizzle?

Is it already the 7th? What the heck happened to August and the other part of my summer. I'm two weeks into school and already I have an entire list of homework crap that I've had to prioritize. I'm supposed to be writing a Sociology paper about Modernity and Tradition--can they survive without each other. I know. You're thinking, "Woo!" So yeah, supposed to be 3-5 pages, will probably be 3. I kind of have to finish it before I go to work tonight, so I'm procrastinating.... that always gets the job done! :)

Thanks for the responses on the gender perception! I totally agree with all 3 of you!! I'm interested in what the rest of my classmates talk about next week when we discuss this topic. If it's anything like the online discussion forum that we've had, the discussion in class will be LAME. Teachers who really know how to direct discussion are few and far between.

Last weekend was the biggest Labor Day fireworks show in the South! Classy, Diva, and I went to stand amongst the crowds for an hour and a half until the big show started! Afterward, we went to the bar that we love and spent too much money. Nothing but pure relaxation.... and some karaoke watching. A few more beverages and I would have been up there singing "No Scrubs" or some other ridiculous song. We had a blast even though I didn't get to participate in the karaoke festivities!

Has anyone heard of someone asking for their chicken mid-rare before????? Well, last night was a first for me. While working, a particular server came up to me to explain how her table, who had an IQ of ZERO combined, asked for their chicken mid-rare. Besides being illegal, she explained how they can't do that because of salmonella. "You mean you can't cook that any other way?" the lady with the southern drawl asked. Um, no. For real??? A. the server told me that she seriously thought she was being Punk'd. People never cease to amaze, ya know?

Off to finish this paper, I suppose I have procrastinated enough and I'm out of stupid stories to tell! Except for this.....

There's this guy at work, not Sir Jerkoffalot, but another guy who used to live with Sir Jerkoffalot. He recently got kicked out of his house and had to move somewhere else, but that's besides the point. He's a complete loser, sells coke, I'm sure of it, and is a whore. For some reason he thinks he can touch any female in the place, which is kind of surprising because everyone thinks that he's quite homosexual (which isn't a bad thing, but this guy can get laid at a snap of a finger and isn't attractive one bit---I don't understand guys like that.) This is the same guy I punched in the throat a few months ago. He told one of my friends that she looked pregnant. Um.. walking up to a girl and rubbing your hand on her belly asking when she's due is sure to get you punched. Okay, I was drunk, so the punch wasn't in the arm like it probably should have been. My inebriated self punched him in the THROAT. Oh he was pissed. At a later drunken date I apologized. Last week I successfully punched him again. This time in the arm. This time no alcohol. Dude grabbed my boob. Yeah. My boob. As quick as he grabbed I punched. He was all, "Roxie, that hurt.. wahhhh", I'm all like, Don't fucking touch me again, Douchebag. Next time it'll be the face. Hopefully, he's learned his lesson. Hopefully.

As I leave you with that story, I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday afternoon. Enjoy the football and think of me while I'm at working bussing tables and attempting to be nice to the people who walk in the front door! :)

Perceptions of Gender

I'm going to ask you all to participate in a homework assignment. One of the classes that I'm taking this semester is Intro to Women's Studies. Now, this is funny because this is the last class I have to take for my minor in Women's Studies. How did I manage that? Who knows, I guess I just jumped into all the other courses without caring about the Introduction course. Either way, one of our first assignments is to ask a question of 2 women and 2 men. My teacher has asked us to e-mail these people to get our responses, but I'm going to post on here and see what happens. Not too sure how many people read quite yet, since I don't keep my blog as updated as others, so we'll see how this works out.

"How would your life be different if you woke up tomorrow changed into a person of the other sex?"

Besides the obvious, how would your life be different? What kind of advantages and disadvantages would there be?

Feel free to say what you want I have to take notes into class so I can share what people said. The more responses the better! :)

Slacker Blogger

So, I've been out of the blog-world for a little bit. Been trying to catch up on housework. Ha! I finally tackled the bathroom which I was dreading doing because it was a disaster. The boyfriend feels that he needs every kind of medicine, bandage, ointments, creams, extra everything, toothpaste, shampoo etc. We have a tall cabinet where all of these are stored. Unfortunately, any time something new is purchased it just gets thrown in the cabinet. My cabinet was vomiting into the floor. Why do we need THREE bags of cotton balls and every medicine known to man? In case we need them, of course. He's been at school all day and so against his wishes I'm throwing out stuff that is almost empty. Obviously, we should recycle and that's what he'll yell about. I don't have time to rinse out all 20 something bottles though, so they are getting trashed. He is the king of all pack rats and doesn't understand why it's not okay.

In other news I started classes on Monday. MWF classes for me. Which means Tuesdays and Thursdays off from school and Work! Woo Hoo! They look like they are going to go well. This is my last year and for whatever reason I've saved 3 freshman level courses for the very end. That sounds easy you might say. Well, it will be, but the hard part is listening to Freshman who don't have a clue about anything. I am excited, though, because for the first time in a while I don't have a huge ass research paper due at the end of the semester! Waaaaahooo!!

Labor day plans for the weekend anyone? For me it's visit with the mom, the best friends and the rest of the fam.

It's Grandpa's birthday Friday, so birthday festivities will ensue. This should be an exciting event because my cousin who's my age is preggo with twins. Yay for babies you might say. Well, not when you're a single mom with a 3 year old and don't have a job! Either way there could be drama, but we're all positive except for her psycho-mom!

And of course there will be fireworks this weekend, I love fireworks.

And guess who's going to be visiting my house while I visit home? The lazy bastard. I've already threatened the boyfriend with "If I come home and the house is destroyed I'm killing you." Seriously, I will scream.

Hope all is well in your blogger world! Promise to post about the weekend, and promise to come up with something exciting to blog about soon!

Imma buy you a drank...

So my stay at home was a little longer than expected. After having the lazy bastard in my house for half of my summer, I was desperate for some time with all of the people whom I love and who love me. Not that the boyfriend and all my friends here don't love me, but there's something about spending time with your mother and your best friends that takes you to your happy place.

I got in town Sunday afternoon. My mom took me to a nice dinner like she usually does when I'm in town. Kind of a ritual now, I suppose. It's always a good opportunity to tell her everything that's in my head, because she's the only one that will listen to me talk all day long if I want to.

That afternoon Classy and I decided that we would go out later that night for adult beverages and other such debauchery. After searching for a cute outfit to wear and departing to prepare our beautiful selves for the evening ahead, we (Classy, Diva (Classy talks about her in her blog) and Classy's Bf) met.

Side Note: Classy and I are neighbors in our hometown. Yes, we grew up across the street from each other and rode to school together throughout high school. This is probably where the withdrawal comes from when we don't see each other. We saw each other non-stop back in the day. Back in the day... haha.

Anyway...We left to go to our new favorite bar. We started off the evening with shots because our friend "Ditsy" (Classy dubbed her this) was meeting us for adult beverages too. We can only handle her in small doses. Everyone has people in their lives like this, right? Well, either way, we had to get some liquid-deal-with-ditsy in us before she got there.

So, a Washington Apple, Royal Flush, and our respective drinks and it wasn't even like we had skipped a day seeing each other. Gotta love friends like these. For me it was a double Jack and Coke night. It was also a night of requesting ridiculous songs on the Juke Box. T-Pain anyone? Usher? Loooove it.

Oh how I love home. Maybe when we're grown-ups one day we'll live in the same town again.

The next day the trouble came. Took my car in for an oil change and came out with $500 in work (that my fantastic mother paid for) more than 24 hours later. I was suppose to go back to my other home Tuesday and that didn't happen. But I'm back now!

Start school on Monday... Wooooooo, but good news is.... I get to see Classy and her Bf not this weekend but next! Hoorah!
